Cushla and Richard Thurston utilised the extra space in their backyard to build a 36sqm/387sqft studio with a unique view over Wellington, New Zealand.
Studio 74 is oriented to efficiently collect heat from the sun during winter, with a steeply pitched roof designed to resist the ever-changing elements of New Zealand's north island. The seamless design of the timber flooring, extending into the shower, gives the home an expansive and flexible feeling helping it transition from art studio to guest house to multi-generational extension.
