L’atelier is the first-ever nomadic architecture studio and was founded by Pierre Escobar in 2019 with the intention of practicing architecture with a mindset of openness and curiosity to the world.
Although our roots are on the European continent, we opt for a Non-Eurocentric understanding of the world and get our inspiration from intercultural exchanges.
Our studio is fully digital, which means we do not have a physical working space and our team is diverse and spread around the world.
We like to think of architecture as a tool to investigate societal issues. This is why we are active in research and cultural activities.
Collaboration is essential to our practice. We believe that our nomadic specificity is strengthened with complementary partnerships.
We are active in academia: Pierre Escobar is professor of interior architecture and spatial design at the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, a young and upcoming institution with students from more than 90 countries sharing the same values of openness and tolerance.
